Shift: The Project to End Domestic Violence partnered with the Family and Community Safety Branch within the Ministry of Human Services in Government of Alberta with an aim to advance research in the area of a primary prevention approach with men and boys. The report “Men and Boys Violence Prevention Project: Informing a Government of Alberta Action Plan to Engage Men and Boys to Stop Violence against Women” was released this month as a result of that partnership. The purpose of this report is to portray current evidence and efforts in Alberta to advance a primary prevention approach with men and boys. Aside from exposing the literature review and research that draws on interviews with leaders throughout Alberta, it also includes a comprehensive overview of available programs in Alberta that are engaging men and boys in prevention, including evidence based programs (EBPs), promising practices, and programs in development.
