The Alberta Healthy Youth Relationships Strategy’s Impact Surpasses Shift’s Original Goal

Our goal with the Alberta Healthy Youth Relationships (AHYR) Strategy launched in 2012 was to support 50,000 youths to build their capacity to prevent violence. By December 2017, we reached over 71,000 grade 7-9 students through the evidence based Fourth R (Relationship) program delivered within 40 school divisions across Alberta. Over 1200 Alberta teachers have taken part in the training! Find out more about this strategy’s accomplishment.

Shift acknowledges that we are located on Treaty 4, Treaty 6, and Treaty 7 territories and the traditional meeting grounds and home for many Indigenous Peoples, including Cree, Saulteaux, Niisitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, and Nakota Sioux, the Siksika, the Piikani (Peigan), the Kainai (Blood), the Tsuut’ina (Sacree), Ktunaxa, Secwépemc, Dene, Mountain Cree, and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations, including Chiniki, Bearpaw, and Wesley First Nations.
