Lana Wells presented at two international conferences in 2013. The presentations outlined recent research on primary prevention and promising approaches to stop first time victimization and perpetration of domestic violence.
The first presentation was in Canada at the Canadian Association for Social Work Education CCASWE-ACFTS 2013 Conference “Social Work at the Speed of Light”. The conference was held at the University of Victoria in Victoria, B.C. from June 3rd to June 6th, 2013. The theme of the conference was on aligning educational, practical and research applications with the evolving and complex social context, to create sustainable change.
The second presentation was at the 18th Annual International Conference & Summit on Violence, Abuse & Trauma, September 8 – 11, 2013 in San Diego, California. The conference was hosted by the Institute on Violence, Abuse & Trauma, an international resource and training center at Alliant International University. Their mandate is to improve the quality of life for individuals on local, national and international levels by sharing and disseminating vital information, improving collaborations and networking, conducting research and training, assisting with direct professional services, program evaluation and consulting to promote violence-free living.
