Lana Wells, the Brenda Strafford Chair in the Prevention of Domestic Violence, was invited to several United Nations events in Switzerland organized by the Canadian Mission during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence. One of the events was an international panel on Preventing Violence against Women: Engaging Men and Boys, Building Alliances, which was a joint event of the Embassy of Canada and the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation. Wells took part in it and delivered a speech addressed to the governments regarding comprehensive strategies they could employ to engage men and boys in their violence prevention plans. The speech was witnessed by the Gender Champions from across multiple United Nations organizations, leaving impression on each of them. Another invitation to Wells was to hold a workshop for experts and leaders from across a myriad of United Nations organizations where she seized the opportunity to speak on Shift’s conceptual framework for engaging men and boys.
