In line with this year’s conference theme, healthy relationships–everyone’s issue, Lana was thrilled to share her recent research on how to engage and mobilize men and boys as partners to advance gender equality and stop violence against women.
She spoke about the consequences of outdated gender norms, and how the negative socialization of men and boys facilitates gender inequality and violence. Wells also shared strategies and approaches from the emergent research she is leading to engage men and boys as agents of change.
“The Strong Voices Together conference is a unique event for service providers to learn more about the prevention of gender-based and family violence. The conference brings leading-edge research, learning opportunities and new resources, with a special focus on men, boys and the LGBTQ+ community.” (Town of Okotoks)
