Lana Wells – the leader of Shift: The Project to End Domestic Violence – participated in a Scientific Panel on Gender-Based Violence hosted by Status of Women Canada over two days in Ottawa. The objective of this panel that consisted of a dozen of scholars from across Canada, was to identify best and promising practices in violence prevention and to discuss effective strategies and approaches in primary prevention of domestic violence. Lana’s contribution to this panel draw on her experiences in bringing systemic changes in primary prevention in Alberta in two areas: advancing healthy youth relationships and engaging men and boys in violence prevention. This panel is a part of consultative process that Status of Women is leading to help create the Federal Strategy on Gender-Based Violence (to be released in 2017).
