Since the release of the Engaging Men and Boys in the Prevention of Domestic Violence research, there have been a number of exciting new developments at the provincial and local levels.

Supporting fathers to become positively engaged in the lives of their children is a promising strategy to prevent intimate partner violence (IPV) in the next generation. In recent months, Shift and Catholic Family Services have been working together to explore ways to improve the parental engagement and parenting skills of young male partners of pregnant and parenting girls and women enrolled at the Louise Dean Centre.

The Government of Alberta has seconded Ken Froese (from Calgary and Area Child and Family Services) to work with and develop the capacity of government, funders, agencies and businesses – essentially anyone with an interest in engaging men and boys to prevent violence. Ken is also assisting the development of a provincial strategy for engaging men and boys in violence prevention. Congratulations Ken!
